Welcome to Elizbet Bears handmade teddy bears by Aileen Terry.
I first became interested in making teddy-bears in 1997 when I decided to buy a pattern and make a teddy-bear for my newly born grandson. For a first attempt it didn't turn out too badly and still sits in my grandson, Daniel's bedroom. From this time I'm afraid I was badly bitten by the 'bear bug' and now find it difficult to try and stop making, and worse still, collecting teddy-bears!
Friends and work colleagues started to buy some of my bears and it has snowballed from there. Since then my bears have found new homes in various parts of this country and also further a field in parts of America, Australia and Spain.
My bears are named after my late mother, who was an excellent seamstress, and it was she who gave me my love of sewing and I will always be grateful to her for this.
All the bears I make are collectors items and are not suitable as toys. I make only 'one-offs' or made to order bears which result in new bears continually being available. Should you wish to adopt any of my bears I can accept payment by cheque or postal order made payable to Aileen Terry. Unfortunately I am unable at the moment to accept credit or debit cards. All prices are subject to postage/packing charges which will be confirmed upon placing an order. Postage will be charged at cost overseas.
A 'layaway' service is also available on request.
Lastly, I would like to thank my husband, Derek, for his help with the difficult task for some of us in jointing the bears and also for producing such good photographs of the bears. My daughter for giving us a grandson, which resulted in my new venture. My son, who has worked hard in producing this website for me and for my dog Jess, my constant companion when I am sewing my bears.
Please enjoy your visit!
